Will be going with my son's school trip in 2 weeks....only have 1 free day, hotel is in Palestrina and want to go to Florence for the day. I am having problems finding a train, do we need to take a bus to Rome and then get the train to Florence? Any advice is appreciated!

There is a station shown on Google's map as Stazione di Palestrina, but it's about three or four miles from town and Trenitalia calls it Zagarolo. There seem to be plenty of trains, taking about two and a half hours to get to Florence with a change at Roma Termini. I'd think the hotel people in Palestrina would have a handle on the best for you to travel to Florence from there.
