I need to get from Florence to Siena. The only bus website I've found is in Italian. I believe a bus is a better alternative than taking the train. If you've done this route by bus, any info would be very helpful.
We did this a couple of years ago. It was very easy. Just start at the main bus terminal in Florence (behind the train station) You will see the schedule posted, pick your time, buy the ticket and get on the bus.
The bus drops you off outside the main piazza in Siena. It's a simple 2-3 block walk to get to Piazza Campo.
The train station in Siena is outside town, you would have to take a taxi. The bus is a better alternative way to get closer to the center of town.
We did this with 2 suitcases and 2 bike cases, so traveling light or heavy, it's a nice way to get between the cities.
Thanks Ellen. How much was the bus fare?
You can see the schedule here:

There is enough English that you should be able to figure it out.
Dennis,
Taking the Bus from Florence to Siena is definitely a better option. As Ellen mentioned, the Bus drops you right in town rather than at the train station (which is at the bottom of the hill).
Again as mentioned, the Bus station is next to Firenze SMN rail station, so very easy to access. Travel time is about 1H15M via Express Bus (as I recall, tickets had to be validated).
Have a look at www.sitabus.it/sita-toscana/Firenze-Siena08.pdf for times and other information.
Happy travels!
The bus was very easy and convenient. As I recall it departs almost hourly from Florence and was pretty cheap. The bus station is around the corner from the Florence train station and drops right in Siena.
The trip will also take you past the US military WW2 cemetary about 5 miles South of Florence.
