We are arriving at fco at 11am on a Thursday. This is our first visit to Rome and Italy. We will be jet lagged. How easy is it to find our way to where the spot is to take the bus to termini? Is there good signage in English? And then when we get off the bus at Temini we have to take the metro to our hotel. Again is the signage good? Thanks!
Mary,
It's far quicker to take the Leonardo Express from FCO to Termini. The trip costs 14€ PP and takes 32 minutes. If you decide to use that option, post another note here as there are a few potentially expensive caveats to be aware of. Those caveats also apply to Metro and other public transit in Italy.
In order to provide transportation information from Termini to your hotel, it would help to know where your hotel is located.
The bus is not hard to find. The stop is in Terminal 3. However, I recommend against it. It is a grueling trip. The price of the Leonardo Express plus Metro or bus to your hotel is a total cost of Euro 31.00. Or you can take a cab for a fixed price of Euro 48.
You could use romashuttle.com for 45€ for door to door service. We've used them many times and they are a good value. They will meet you just outside of the customs door and deliver you to your hotel.
Buon viaggio,
Where is your hotel? Sometimes it's best to take the local train which has a stop at Trastevere. We have done this, then take a tram which has several stops in Trastevere, one near Lago Argentina and the final stop near the Victor Emmanuel monument. Thus routing costs about 12€ total. If it's more convenient for you to take the Leonardo Express, you can then find multiple buses at the bus transit center north, right outside of the main train station. Because each bus starts here, there is always room for you and your luggage I'd check with your hotel which local bus goes closest to them. Have your stop written down to show the driver and other passengers so they can help you. We find when we fly in, even with jet lag, the adrenaline of arriving in Rome wakes us up for atleast several hours.
