Bus/Car Transfer from Sorrento to Napoli Centrale

Hello, a friend and I are spending 3 nights in Sorrento and leaving for Rome via train at the Napoli Centrale station. We took the local train service and unfortunately my friend was pickpocketed and we are wanting to avoid taking that train service again. Can anyone recommend a company we can book with to take us to the Napoli Centrale station? I looked up Curreri Viaggi I think it's called and we also asked the local tourist office and said they could book us a private car service for €84.
Just wondering if anyone else had a cheaper option at all that they knew about?

That is very unfortunate. We successfully rode the train with luggage twice and to pompeii and herculeum and back to sorrento. Only once was it body to body but we had our stuff in a neck wallet and and pac safe bag. Lots of people playing music and asking for money.

We used Monetti taxi to take us to Paestum and I know they also go to the Napoli Centrale because they asked if we need a ride back to the station. They were great but I have no idea how much they would cost. Probably about the same. You have to decide if that is worth the peace of mind, it might be.

Campania Express looked very comfortable and uncrowded (we saw it from the jam-packed Circumvesuviana on the other track in Sorrento) Next time!!

Check out Viator.com their tours and transfers are always reliable. Since you are paying anyway arrange for them to make a stop or two or take the scenic route.

Although I have to say I rode the CV line to and from Naples as a solo female traveler several times and never had a problem except the one night I came back to Naples late and got some looks I didn't like...Italian machismo I think.

Yes, I'd give the Campania Express a look if you're traveling in the season it runs. This is a fairly new option, and convenient as you can catch it from Garibaldi - right beside Napoli Centrale, where you caught the regular Circumvesuviana train before - versus having to go to the airport for the Curreri Viaggi bus. It's also faster than the regular train as it only stops at the places which are top of tourist wish lists.

Of course if $ is no object, car service is another option.

been there and done that. pickpocketting is not ever in my vacation plans. The owner of my hotel called a car service for me. the rate for 80 euro which he told the company was too high. I paid 70 euro for door-to-door service right to Napoli Centrale. There is also the boat but with luggage that could be a real pain . . . plus the additional taxi rides on both sides of the bay. I go for the car every time!

ann,

Sorry that your friend was victimized, and hopefully h/she didn't lose too much.

I would also suggest contacting the Monetti Taxi which I believe is recommended in the guidebooks.

They get excellent reviews on Trip Advisor.

The other side of the coin is that the probability of being pickpocketed again is not high especially if you don't carry anything in a location where it cannot be accessed by the pickpocket. We are been on the circum... a number of times without any problems. But things happen.
