I understand that one can catch the C12 bus between Menaggio and Lugano, but not sure where to catch the bus for the return trip to from Lugano to Menaggio. And what is the approximate cost?

Be sure to take your passport with you on this trip. Passing into Switzerland, our bus was stopped and passports were checked. I guess if you are without your passport they would make you get off the bus, but we were all ok. As I recall, it was about a 10 min walk from bus to city-center in Lugano. Nice town. McDonald's has a great spot right on the lake!
