Burano yes or no?

We are in Venice for 2 days. We were thinking about going to Burano earlier in the morning one of the days and just staying for a short time. Do you think it is worth going to Burano or should we just stick to Venice? Thanks!

With just two days I would stay in Venice. We were in Venice for five days, and one of the days we went to Burano, Murano and Torcello. It was a great excursion. I particularly liked Burano, but with just two days I would not short change Venice.

Well Julie, with only 2 days in Venice, and if going to Burano for just a short time, probably not.

It is a great place to visit, wander around, photograph, and have a meal. But that means a few hours on the island. Also, it is 45minutes or more each way on the vaporetto, once you find your way to the right vaporetto stop and perhaps then wait for your boat.

I agree with the previous two posts. Burano is a beautiful place to visit but with just two days in Venice, it would take a good amount of your time to get there and walk around the island.

Burano is a tremendously pretty place and a photographers dream. But it will take at least one half (very rushed) to three quarters (just a little less rushed) of a day. Save it for another trip and spend the entire time in Venice itself.

If it’s lace you are looking for there is a shop at an exit in St Marks Sq. We were in Venice for five days last April and still didn’t want to take more than one day trip. That ended up being Verona for an opera. But I managed to pick up three gorgeous pieces of lace in the Il Merletto Lace School. It’s at the opposite end from the basilica just through an open walkway.

We are planning on 4 days this fall and this time going to Burano. With 2 days I wouldn’t push it.

Burano is pretty, lots of lace to buy ( much of it from the Orient, I suppose a little homage to Marco Polo). After that, not a whole lot, unless you visit the lace museum, and hop over to Torcello, and Torcello is very special, a campanile that you can actually climb.

However it is a 45 minute plus ride on a vaporetto from Fond. Nuove, plus waiting time and possibly not getting on the first vap back from Burano, as the line can be really long. Even with an early start, Burano would consume all morning and part of the afternoon.

Gives you something to look forward to next trip.

With only two days, here's another vote for Venice only. Save Murano-Burano-Torcello for a future trip.

Love Burano!! Been here several times now but with only 2 days just enjoy your time in Venice! One of my memories of Burano was when an elderly gentleman, who did not speak English, wanted his picture taken with us--I was with my sisters and niece on a girl's trip. He then proceded to give us a scrap of paper with his name and address on it (had them ready to go) and he wanted us to send him the picture (which I did) as he puts them up on a wall in his home. So Sweet!

Loved burano, but plan to spend a good part of the day. If the crowds in venice are getting to you, you are tired and just need to chill on the vaporetto and wander a beautiful photographic island, go for it. My husband called it his rest and relaxation day. Wonderful.
