Do you have any recommendations about travel to and from Burano. The vaporetto from Fondamente via Murano is clear but the return to San Zaccaria is not. How long does it take? We are staying near the Rialto Bridge.Mostly likely travelling in the early afternoon. We could do early Sunday,are the shops open? Thanks

Do you have an iPhone? If so, the best app for vaporetto travel is "VeneziaUnica" It has everything you need to know.
How do you want to approach S Zaccaria from Murano (after Burano)? Down the Grand Canal, around by Giudecca, or around the "tail"? It can be done any of those ways, and your answer will vary considerably.
Tourist shops are always open to scoop in your money. Artisans likely will be resting.

Rick's Italy book mentions both lines 12 and 14 departing Burano, with line 12 returning to Fondamente Nove and line 14 serving San Zaccaria (per map and text on p. 77-78 or Venice book p. 216). See also p.17 of this PDF Vaporetto schedule, or schedules posted at S. Zaccaria dock A.

Careful counting on the number 14 which is seasonal.
