Budget Lodging in Sorrento/Positano

I am traveling to the Amalfi Coast for 2 nights in early July. I am looking for lodging, preferably 100E or less per night. At that time of year, I would also want a/c. I was originally planning to stay in Sorrento, unless there are better options for my criteria in Positano. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks!

Friends who were in Positano the same time we were (we stayed at the Hotel Puppetto) enjoyed the Pensione Maria Luisa. It's in a great location just above the Sirenuse and some rooms have balconies and views. It's website is reporting rates in the 75 - 85 Euro range.

We absolutely loved the Hostel Brikette in Positano. They have private rooms - a double with bathroom is €75/night.

There's also a fabulous (and cheap!) restaurant just up the stairs behind the hotel.

Lindsay,

For hotel options in Positano, check out Villa Nettuno, Residence La Tavolozza, and Venus Inn. They have all received high ratings on Tripadvisor and are 100 euros or less with ocean view.

I can't speak to Positano, but the lat time I stayed in Sorrento (1999), I stayed at the Hotel Lorelei de Londres, which was reasonably priced, fairly convenient to the Circumvesuviana, and has a superb view over the Bay of Naples.

I'd enthusiastically recommend it, with the caveat that a lot can happen over 10 years ;)

Have fun!

I traveled to Sorrento and AC a few years ago and also stayed at Il Nido. But it was in october. The rates were in our fairly strict budget and was a very nice place to stay. It was very clean, comfortable, nice little balcony with great views, ample breakfast on a lovely terrace.Although it was not in the centro, it was up a steep hill, above the city, there was a frequent free shuttle service that worked out great for us. Also had dinner there one night and it was delicious.
