Brunello Bus

Looking to take a tour from Montalcino on this bus. Website isn’t working for booking. Maybe it’s a sign? Worth the trip or not? It’s $75 per person for 3 hours-ish, I think. Would plan on the Thursday afternoon tour to two wineries, in early April. Will do Rick’s Brunello drive before the 3:30pm tour. Also, will drive the heart of Tuscany route in the following days. Alternatively, wines in bars around the town in Montalcino on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon/night. What’s the better way to learn about and sample Brunello? Is there a better experience? In vino veritas.

While I haven't taken a Brunello wine tour, I have stayed in Montalcino and sampled the local Brunello, Super Tuscan and Rosso di Montalcino wines. The obvious advantage of the wine tour is that you get to visit a few wineries. The advantage of sampling at an enoteca in Montalcino, either at the Fortessa or in town, is that you'll have a wider selection of vineyards from which to choose. The people I interacted with were very happy to talk about the local wines and answer questions. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

The Enotecca di Piazza in Montalcino is our favorite! Huge variety of wines to taste and they will ship to the US for free if you buy a case of Brunello.
