Brunelleschi's Dome or Giotto's Bell Tower Tickets

Good morning all,

According to Rich Steve's package, he suggested us to book Brunelleschi's Dome or Giotto's Bell Tower in Florence on Thursday, 05/25/2023 at 1:30 pm. I need to help to buy tickets on this day. I went to Florence museum's website, but I did not understand it. If you know where to buy these tickets, please let me know.

In addition, I watched the YouTube regarding the Dome. The Youtuber said there are 416 steps to climb up to the top. I am a 62 years old lady, a little chubby (around 170 lbs.,) and I just got 2 shots on my knees. Do you think I will have problem to climb those stairs?

If I can't go to the top, I still can see some paintings on the first floor, right?

Thank you for all your help.

Hello Sandy Chen,

If you buy either a Brunelleschi Pass or a Giotto Pass from the official website it comes as a 3 day pass for the Duomo, Santa Reparata underneath, the Baptistery (undergoing renovation and partially open now), access to the Duomo Museum as well as either climb.
The major difference is that you need to schedule a time for the Dome climb and be there for your slot where the Giotto tower climb is open whenever you like as long as you have your pass.

Brunelleschi: https://operaduomofirenze.skiperformance.com/en/store?skugroup_id=3006&product_id=13344#/en/buy?product_id=13344&skugroup_id=3006&bookable_y_n_a=a

Giotto: https://operaduomofirenze.skiperformance.com/en/store?skugroup_id=3006&product_id=13345#/en/buy?product_id=13345&skugroup_id=3006&bookable_y_n_a=a

There have been recent threads about accessibility and the potential difficulty of the two climbs - I suggest you search for these threads and read those responses. I have only climbed the Giotto Tower and while it is a lot of steps there are plaza areas during the climb that break the ascent into distinct sections. If you ever felt you had reached your limit (keeping mind you have to get back down) you could take your photos and see the city and Duomo from whichever level you reach and then turn around after resting.

Have a great visit, don't miss the Duomo museum which is really good,

Hi Sandy,
Given your personal history, I would not climb either the Dome or Tower. I think there are other things you might enjoy more in Florence during your free time.

Look in RS Guidebook, and see what the tour doesn't include that might interest you more than climbing either.
We really enjoyed spending time at the Duomo Museum. Of course, there's always finding and sampling another gelato shop and people-watch. We liked crossing the Pinterest Vecchio and having lunch on that side. Or ride the bus to Piazzale Michelangelo for a view of the city.

We climbed the Dome because....well, just because I like the challenge of a climb, and also I wanted to see the inner construction stairs between 2 walls. But I was so focused on the climb that I didn't really analyze the construction.
