Bringing a small gift to Italy

We will be meeting our adult and their children Italian cousins in late May for the first time. Is there anything specifically American we can bring as a host/hostess type gift? Liquor or something that is particularly expensive in Italy for them that they might enjoy?

All ideas welcome please :)

Perhaps something special from your neck of the woods? We're doing a home exchange and we plan to leave for our family a bottle of Michigan maple syrup. (or peanut butter! Ha! that's hard to find in Europe, I've heard)

Europe is swimming in peanut butter! There's been a huge surge in nut butters of all types recently and there's a big trend for natural peanut butter made from just peanuts and salt. The sugary stuff just isn't going down well.

We purchased Alex and Ani bracelets for our female cousins with a NYC logo. They were easy to transport. We usually don't get anything for the guys, they don't seem to care. PS on the peanut butter, our German friend asked us for organic PB last time we visited. Problem is it is quite heavy.
