bring anti-theft pouch when climbing Pisa Leaning Tower

there's strict policy of no bag when climbing the tower. what about the "anti-theft' pouch that hung over your neck or as belt bag? we don't feel comfortable leaving money and passport in the cloakroom although it's supervised, it's still at our own risk.

has anyone tried and allowed?

Jen,

As you’ll see, the spiral staircase is very narrow, thus the policy of no bags in the tower.
As previously stated, do not carry any valuables in any backpack or daybag, always carry them in your money belt or secured zippered hidden pocket.

Enjoy your time in beautiful Italy!🌼

On our first trip to Italy in 1980 I vividly remember someone patting me down looking for a wallet as we climbed the steps of the Leaning Tower. Fortunately, the wallet wasn't in my back pocket. Wear a money belt and do not leave valuables anywhere. The pickpockets in Italy are maestros.

in large cities, especially on crowded buses and subways, they work in teams of three: 1. the stall-they stop in front of you, 2. the bump-they bump into you to distract you, and 3. the dip-this is the person who does the pickpocketing. They are quick, slick, and organized. They come in all ages, genders, and ethnicities.

Generally, stay alert and take precautions.

Buon viaggio,

Jen, you are getting great advice. When we visited Pisa, I toured the bapistry while my companions climbed the tower. They used the restrooms there at the left luggage place. I was unable to find a restroom anywhere else on the grounds ..... so make good use of the left luggage place :)
