Bring a thin Towel?

Is it a good idea to bring a thin personal
Towel for showers? I will be touring thru, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and France. Are the hotel towels usually sufficient?

I've never considered a need to bring my own towel. Any hotel we've stayed at would bring extra towels when we asked.

You definitely don't need to bring towels, but if you like to use facecloths/washcloths, bring one from home.
They are uncommon in Italy and France, except in some hotels, and even then I don’t remember seeing them.

Towels have never been an issue, as someone mentioned, washcloths are rare. The only other thing I bring is a simple bed sheet. I simply cannot stand much on me, too hot, and I sleep only in boxers. Most hotels have duvets with no top sheet, I otherwise am always disassembling them. There are usually only limited temp controls and rarely fans.

No to the towel as the hotels have so plenty that they can afford stolen. Also, you don't want to be carrying that around if it happens to not be completely dry and becomes mildewy.

I take a small microfiber towel for removing water from clothes that I sink wash.

MF is a miracle fiber and you can find towels of various sizes designed just for travel (sometimes they are pitched to campers but same thing). The one I use for washing my car rolls up and lives in a tube and stays damp all the time with no problem, it's designed for that.

You won't lack for towels, but usually for washcloths. Some people also recommend bringing a golf ball if you like to fill your sink with water.

Ask for more towels from the front desk if you don’t have enough. Isn’t that what you would do at a hotel in the Bahamas where you live?

I take a Sand Towel. It is a Turkish towel. Huge. Thin, dries easy. Used to use a camp towel. That was small. Too small. This is a good size. Takes up nothing. I lay it flat at the bottom of my pack.

Thank you all for the input! I was definitely thinking MF fabric for quick dry time and thinness, and as someone smartly mentioned, it can do double duty for wringing out wet clothes! I have never been to Europe, and am not staying in 'big' commercial hotels so I did not know what to expect. Ricks packing listed a thin towel as an 'optional extra' and I appreciate the advise.
Cheers everyone!

We brought a RS quick dry towel back in 2003 for our first RS tour. We’ve never brought it again.
