Brennero/Brenner activity

Am I seeing this right, that in the actual town of Brennero, there is little other than a shopping outlet? Or is there something specifically worth seeing in the town while we pass through? (the town, not the general area.)

While I'm on the subject, is the scenery from Innsbruck to Brennero on the rail line what someone could expect in the Alps?

Well, before the outlet was built, Brennero was almost entirely built up by the railway station and custom areas. As my wife once said, it was the place where unruly carabinieri were sent for a winter stint as a mild disciplinary action. Most of the custom areas are gone now and in the space left free the outlet was built. - I did not find the outlet particularly interesting, maybe the station may interest a railway buff when they have to exchange engines as the north side of the station the railway line is energized in AC and the south side of the station in CC. Engines ending in the wrong side have to be rescued by a diesel engine. Even this mild form of entertainment is ending as most train engines are multi system now and they simply have to change the crew and throw a switch to the new system.

The scenery from Innsbruck is very alpine - even if the most scenic peaks are the ones you see from Innsbruck city. The Brenner area is a relatively deep gorge and you cannot see anything.

I believe that's the station where I had to change trains in 2015. There certainly wasn't anything to be seen from the platform itself. If you're traveling farther along that rail line, Bolzano (Bozen) and Bressanone (Brixen) both have very pretty historic districts. Bolzano's is a bit closer to the train station.
