Breakfast in Monterosso al Mare

I'm trying to book accommodations in Monterosso al Mare. I'm down to Albergo Marina, L'Antica Terrazza, and Albergo al Carugio based on availability, cost, and reviews.

Just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what the cost of breakfast would be at a restaurant? Two of the accommodations have breakfast and one doesn't. I'd like to have that info to help determine overall cost.

Thanks for your help!

P.S. If you have experience with any of these places, feel free to leave any helpful tips - what to ask for, best view, etc.

dc,

Which hotels have you tried so far?

I don't know of any restaurants that provide breakfast in Monterosso. Many hotels provide that for their guests so there likely wouldn't be much demand for a restaurant to be open for breakfast. I normally stay at Hotel Villa Steno and they provide a substantial breakfast, which is included with the cost of the room.

I note that the Al Carrugio website states that they have an "agreement" with a restaurant, so you might ask them about typical prices. Carugio also operates a restaurant, and I've found the food to be very good there. Albergo Marina provides breakfast so that would be a good choice if that's an important factor in your choice of hotels.

You didn't say when your trip would be taking place, but in any case I'd suggest getting a hotel booking SOON!

I stayed in Monterosso recently. My hotel charged me €10 for a buffet breakfast. It included cheese, ham, hard boiled egg, and numerous pastries. At the nearby bar, I had cappuccino and pastry (brioche or croissant) : cost €2.20. The hotel was villa degli argentieri on via Fegina.

We just stayed in Monterosso on May 3-5 at the Albergo Marina. It was a delightful family run b&b and the owner fixes a marvelous breakfast included in the price. Made to order omelets and crepes filled with chocolate, fruit, pastries, and marvelous coffee.

I echo @kerybinks regarding Albergo Marina. We stayed there in 2013 and it was a very nice, quaint place, and the breakfast on the outdoor upper patio was a treat. I would stay there again without hesitation.

Outside of your hotel, breakfast options will usually be "bar food," e.g. coffee and croissant or small sandwiches, or else supermarket/bakery items. Some pizza/focaccia by the slice places open as early as 9:00; see p 425 of Rick's Italy book (end of Monterosso chapter), if you have that one. That page also mentions Bar Davi, under the arch on Via Roma, with an American-style bacon & eggs breakfast option on their menu (price not listed), open from 7:00.
