Breakfast/Coffee near Vatican and Forum

Hello everyone,

Please provide recommendations for the best spot for a cornetto (or any type of pastry) and a cappuccino near the Vatican and Forum. My Mom and I want to visit St. Peter's on a Sunday and our goal is to get there first thing - afterwards we will like to stop for a quick bite before we continue on our way. Just wanted to mention it will be a Sunday as it seems some places are closed on Sunday from what I have researched. The Forum will be visited on a Monday - we will be meeting with a tour guide and would like to grab a bite prior to this.

Thank you.

I cannot give you a specific recommendation, but pick any small place and walk in. Stand at the bar and order. We found a place near our hotel that offered coffee and pastries. The second day we walked in they were making our coffee when they saw us.

The trick is to stand; it costs more to sit. As well, the closer you are to a tourist attraction, the more you could pay. Look for a place that have locals coming in and out off.

Hi Lidia,

Please watch this YT video from The Roman Guy. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VKVOoixNkrs

Sean, one of the lead guides, has some favorite recommendations; especially for an espresso and cornetto near The Vatican.

Borgo Pio (street) Sean mentions. It's a nice street/area, a "little touristy" but not that bad. You can still get the Roman "flavor" nicely walking around. It appeared that locals and travelers mingled among the restaurants and stores. A friend of mine has a store in the area.

Sean has been in Rome for about 10 years. He either still lives in the apartment above the coffee bar or has moved to another neighborhood since he married. Anyway, a lot of his videos are informative, humorous, and fun to watch.

I absolutely love St. Peter's Basilica. I visited the Church a number of times and never tire of it.

Have fun.

Thank you, Bob. I knew about it costing more to sit than stand but I am with my Mom and if she needs to sit, we shall sit. She is elderly and has a bum knee (even after two surgeries) so sometimes she will need to sit. Just going to budget a bit extra as I know this will be a factor.

Girasole thank you for the video. Will take a look at this video as well as others.
