Borghesi Gardens

In late September, we will be a party of four staying near Piazza del Popolo in Rome. Since we will be so near the Borghesi Gardens, we thought it might be a nice place to get in some early AM exercise. As this is our first trip to Rome, we have no idea if the Gardens are safe at that hour, or even accessible (are there gates, etc). Any comments woukd be welcome - thanks!

Very safe and very accessible. I walk thru there as early as 06:30 and as late as 22:00, often alone. No gates, patrolled periodically by the Carabinieri. Get a good map. :-)

You probably won't be alone by about 7:30 or so, lots of people exercise in the Borghese Gardens in the morning.

Yes, Villa Borghese - the name of the park - is very safe but very large: do take a map. No, there are no gates. As far as I know, the park has no formal website but you google "Villa Borghese map" and some images will come up that you could print out for a rough idea of where things are. Here's one, for example:

More safe than probably any public park in the US. Use Google Maps to get an idea of the layout. It will be perfect for an early morning run. It's a lovely park.
