Borghese- Visa repeatedly declined

Ever since November tix were posted have tried to purchase. Card is always denied, tried my name then husband's name for three weeks. Bank has put travel alert for Borghese on account, says all will clear, but never does. Am trying to keep all travel purchases on this card. Only odd thing I saw was ticket price. RS says 11 euro plus fee but only option was 8 euro ticket plus 2 euro booking fee. Is that the problem?

I'm not sure what is happening, but last year I called to get tickets, and my card wouldn't go through. The person at the Borghese Gallery just gave me my confirmation number and said to pay when I got there. That worked.

I had the same problem. But eventually I was able to buy them with PayPal.

I had the same problem using a Chase visa. I called Chase and they said it wasn't being blocked on their end.

I ended up using PayPal just like the previous reply.

I used PayPal, as well. In fact, the reason we signed up for PayPal in the first place was because a site in Spain (bus tickets to Granada, I think) wouldn't take our Visa card. PayPal is free to the user (the vendor pays), and seems to be secure. You will get lots of email from them about other services, though.

Thanks everyone. I finally broke down and used a different card - unfortunately with a 3% fee, unlike the other card which has no fees. Anyway, I have the tickets now. I got out of PayPal a long time ago - exactly for the reasons mentioned - the endless emails and pitches drove me nuts. Thanks again.

I don't get solicitation e-mails from PayPal; I recall getting them initially, but then opting out in some way. So, there's definitely a way to do that, if you want or need to us PayPal in the future. (I don't remember if it was a link at the bottom of the e-mail in tiny print, which is a common method, or if I had to log into my account and change my preferences; either way, it worked).

Harold, I saw the opt out option, but was concerned that I'd miss the statements and receipts. I'll try opting out and see what happens. Thanks.

I still get statements and receipts. I've merely opted out of the advertising and solicitations.
