Borghese tickets only available through March 17?

Is there a method to how and when the Borghese Gallery releases tickets? I’ve been checking periodically (I’m not traveling until May but just trying to stay on top of things). A while back I was surprised to see tickets available through March 17, which was 36 days in advance (I think) when I first looked. However, I’m still only seeing tickets available through March 17, which is only 19 days out. There’s nothing I can see on the website re planned closures of the gallery. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks!

There doesn’t seem to be any particular time table that they use to open up blocks of tickets. I have been checking for weeks now as well. The website is not very helpful in regard to current and upcoming exhibitions either. I did see that last week they closed on a day that they had sold tickets with no notice to take down an exhibition. I also learned through some digging that 3 of their Caravaggios are out on loan. It is not obvious on the website either.

Their ticket-release schedules have been sort of random for awhile; frustrating, I know! Just keep a disciplined eye on the website 'cause it's not impossible that several months worth of tickets might suddenly become available.

I have also been looking and was confused. Today I found this on the Borghese Gallery website: https://galleriaborghese.beniculturali.it/en/visita/

From March 19 until June, the ticket price will be reduced as there will be no access to the second floor of the museum due to major works.

So first off, kinda bummed that it will probably be more crowded with only the first floor available during May (and now I wonder what we'll miss on the 2nd floor) and, more relevant to this question, I'm guessing they have yet to update the ticket website with whatever the new prices will be with the partial closure.....

Yikes! Good catch, Carrie! I was looking under "Upcoming exhibitions" for clues but nada there. As well as reducing the price, I wonder if they'll reduce the number of tickets per time slot to accommodate all the visitors on one floor? Guess we'll see.

Thank you, Carrie — that’s got to be the reason. Disappointing, for sure but as long as they don’t decide to shut it down completely, at least we’ll get to see some of it (and according to the RS Italy book, most of the “can’t miss” art is on the ground floor).

I wonder if they need to overhaul their entire online ticket distribution process to accommodate the change in price and whatever changes to length of time slots and how many people they admit at any time? Yikes! I hope they figure it out soon because I’m waiting to schedule anything else on our Borghese visit day until I (hopefully) have a specific timed entry.

If anyone does see any updates to all of this and/or an updated calendar of available dates, it would be great if they could share it on this forum. That will give those of us in this “community” slightly better odds in getting tickets for the date and time we’d like to visit.

They actually just posted new ticket dates through June 19th! Tickets are now 13 Euros each.

It's a shame that the second floor won't be accessible, since there are some spectacular paintings there.

Yes, I second guessing if I should go now. Any opinions from people who have been there before?

IMO the sculptures on the first floor are worth the price of admission.

While I’m disappointed I won’t get to see the second floor collection, it’s not like I can just pop in the next time I’m in Rome….so I’ll make the best of it. I was also able to purchase tickets for the day and time I was hoping for in May. Thanks to everyone who chimed in and made sense of this mystery today!

I heartily agree with ponygirl813 above. The sculptures at the Borghese (and the Bargello in Florence) are absolutely jaw-dropping. We kept going back to marvel at them. To be able to see all that in one place is mind-boggling.
