Borghese (Rome), Uffizi & Accademia (Florence)

I understand that these museums need reservations. How long in advance does one need to book. And how much are the tickets. We are going to Italy for the first 3 weeks of June in Italy. Thank you in advance for your comments.

Steve, I'm not exactly sure when the first three weeks in Italy is ;-) But generally how early you need to book does depend on the time of year and how limited your time slots are. Busy season, you should probably try to reserve at least a month early. Low season, a couple of days to a couple of weeks before. I usually just ask my hotel to make the reservations for me.

As a side note, only the Borghese requires reservations. For the two in Florence, it's a good idea as the lines can get quite long during the busier seasons, but they aren't required.

Hi Steve,
I put together detailed notes on museum booking, lodging, etc. that I can send you. Just send me your email.
Uffizi and Accademia reservations are not required but I highly recommend them or your wait could be hours in line vs. 10 minutes with a reservation. Borghese reservations are required. If you are planning to go to any other museums or travel around Rome I recommend getting the Roma Pass, which includes a map, unlimited public transportation and free admission to two museums with discounts at the others.

Do the Borghese reservations Now. Was just there and all the tours were booked--I think wed made ours in January, and I'm sure it will be tighter in June. Agree that reservations for Uffizi make good sense, however, other than David, the Accademia didn't do much for me.
