What is the best way to walk from the Borghese Museum to the Etruscan Museum? I looked at maps (which show a rather direct route), but also got directions from the Rome2rio website, which gave a very complicated (but perhaps more scenic) route requiring 24 minutes. We plan to reserve tickets to the Borghese at 9 PM next April, then had hoped to find lunch somewhere in the Gardens, and do the Etruscan Museum after that. Finally, we plan to walk to the Spanish Steps and have dinner in the evening. Any advice? Thanks!
We were in Rome in mid-June and while we didn't go to the Etruscan Museum, we did take time to walk to the Zoo and through the park as we went to see the Spanish steps. On google maps, there are three routes (22-26 minutes) from the Borghese to the Etruscan Museum, the routes through the park are more scenic. It is a lovely park with lots of locals walking dogs and families playing.
Enjoy the Borghese and the docent led tours are excellent.

The Borghese is amazing, make sure u get your tix way ahead of your trip. They sell out way in advance.
Etruscan museum is ok, not many visit it , interestingly enough.
2 museums in a day is alot in general. Last i heard they are renovating the Spanish Steps.
Enjoy.
Thank you both for your replies. Yes, two museums in one day is perhaps not wise, but since they are so close together, we will give it a try. I think the Borghese is time-limited to two hours; is this correct? If so, that will be a very intense visit. The Etruscan Museum is not nearly so big or so full of famous artifacts, so we can take an easy pace. Plus there's a lovely walk between the two. The Spanish Steps are not so important, but Rick says there's some good restaurants nearby. We are also planning a 'day in the country': Appian Way, Aqueduct Park, etc. We will have seven full days in Rome, plus a day for either Tivoli or Ostia Antiqua, which is still not enough time to see all the things we want to see. Major first-world problems!
The Borghese is limited to two hours and they enforce the time limit. The good news with your route is that you walk down the Spanish Steps (not up) and when you reach the bottom, you are in an area with good restaurants. Check out RS guide for some ideas. There is also upscale shopping in this area with a lot of Italian style.
Enjoy your stay,
Sandy
I don't know as there's any "best" walk to the Etruscan museum: just take a map and head off through the park. Here's one map version that might be helpful (click on it to enlarge a bit):

There are maps posted here and there throughout the park but not frequently enough, as I recall, to be able to find one if you need one so do print and take one along. We've enjoyed our walks in the park very much but don't expect 'gardens', per se.
From the Etruscan, I'd head south to the Pincio and a nice view over Piazza del Popolo, and then down to Trinita dei Monti church, which is at the top of the Spanish Steps. Renovation of the steps was completed in 2016.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Etruscan museum. I checked Rome2rio and it gives the best walking routes, about 1.5 miles, from Villa Borghese. We took a bus to the Etruscan museum from the historic center. I remember the museum being in a pleasant neighborhood.

I think you meant 9:00 AM?
There are very few places to eat IN the park, and none that I know of between the Borghese and the Etruscan. However the Modern Art Gallery is right on the way to Etruscan (both are just outside the park) and you might try Caffe delle Arti there? They have both a cafe and restaurant (I'd probably go for the cafe). We haven't personally eaten there but reviews aren't bad.

There is also a tiny cafe within the Borghese, which we didn't do either when we went to the museum. Some reviews recommend just getting a sammie to go from that one and grabbing a seat in the park. Hopefully others of RS folks can come up with some additional ideas.
