Borghese Museum reservations

I am trying to make reservations to the Borghese museum but it appears that the website will only let me purchase tickets (not just reserve a date/time). I had planned on using the Roma Pass to get into the museum (and wanted to take the english speaking tour) but would still need to reserve, but it looks like I can't do that.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Lisa, Are you staying in an apartment or B & B? If you are staying at a B & B, see if your host can make reservations for you. If an apartment, you have two options. Call the Galleria Borghese from home or see if the folks renting the apartment can call and get reservations for you.

My B & B host made reservations for my wife and I for June 20. Much easier than reserving online or calling overseas.

Lisa,

I also tried to make reservations at ticketeria.it for Borghese. However the site required anyone planning to use the Roma Pass to reserve by phone. So I will do that as soon as I arrive in Rome.

If using a Roma pass you cannot make a reservation via internet. Ask you hotel to make the reservation for you. Or go to RoninItaly.com for a much more detailed explanation.

Look for the info in RS book regarding making Borghese reservations. I made a reservation over the phone here in the US. The operator asks you for the date, time and number of people, and gives you a reservation #. When we got to the Borghese, we used the Roma Pass.

I considered calling to make the reservation but assumed the cost of the international call would void any discounts I would be getting with the Pass...?

I am not staying in a hotel so can't ask for that service.

maybe I will call when I get there.

thanks everyone!

I made the call to Italy with my 1-800 MCI calling card, cost per min was about $0.17 per min, so maybe the call cost $0.34 from the US. If you've got a prepaid calling card, that usually is the cheapest way to call Italy for just reservation. I even made multiple reservations for different days, as I did not know what day I would visit the Borghese. Unclaimed reservations just go the the folks who are waiting for the Borghese to release any unclaimed reservations.

Lisa,

I had the same problem. The website was trying to charge me even though I have a Roma Pass. My husband just called them and had no problems at all. They didn't even charge us a reservation fee or anything. The phone # is in Rick's travel books.

When you finally get your reservations, read the instructions thoroughly. We went a couple of years ago, ticket noted that we should arrive and check in about 30 minutes prior to reservation time.

And they mean it -- we were 5 minutes late and were turned away. We waited for a cancellation and finally got it an hour later...read carefully and be early!
