Do you understand that the B.G. opens for a strictly limited number of guests, every two hours by appointment and throws you out after two hours? That restricts both their own tickets and resellers with guides. It's not an ordinary open-market museum purchase. Just so you know.

We used the Borghese Gallery’s audio guides and thought they were terrific. We could spend time where we were interested and skip things of little interest to us. Cheaper than a tour and freedom to follow your own nose,

While we didn't use an audio guide, we did use a guidebook purchased in advance from the bookshop (arrived early to browse the selections). Like Laurel's method, this not only gave us the ability to move at our own pace but to bring home a great reference piece that we've used many times since. Just another idea?
