Borghese Gallery-tour or not?

Hi, Giangilberto from Milan, so look, I did the only guided tour of the Borghese Gallery just before Pandemic, when I brought some of my Spanish friends to visit it, I took the guided tour they offer on their official website.
I had a great time. It's was just before Pandemic, I repeat, so it must have been 2019, a few years have passed and I don't know if anything has changed or not, but I really liked it and it was very interesting and my friends also really liked it.
A personal piece of advice I can give you is that I'm very passionate about art and I visit exhibitions and museums constantly as soon as I can.
In my opinion, a guided tour is always worth doing. Then there will be cases in which you may find a guide who is not prepared or who does not know how to explain well and does not meet your expectations. However, in my opinion it is always in a very low percentage and I repeat, my opinion is that the guided tour is perfect for visiting a museum or an exhibition, is perfect when you could have a competent person who explains everything about what you are visiting.

We brought our RS guide book and read the comments on each major piece of art. Not a guided tour, but helpful.

We have tickets to do the tour from the Borghese in late September. At only 10 Euros extra I felt it was worth it. In general, we have found Italian tour guides to be excellent. We will have our RS book as well.

I have been to the Borghese twice and planning a 3rd trip. The first two times I took the tour offered by the museum and it is excellent, each guide has not only deep knowledge about the art, but also ensures that you see pieces that you may miss on your own. You still have plenty of time to revisit your favorites. This time, we are not taking the tour as I want to spend more time with the Bernini statues.

We have been three times, twice just to admire the art in our own using some of the Rick Steves guidebook. The third time we rented the audio guide and found it excellent. We prefer to wander on our own rather than with a group so the audio guide was a nice enhancement .

We took the tour because it was the only way to get a ticket at the time we wanted on the day we wanted. But I was so glad we did! I thought it was excellent. I do prefer a live guide to an audio tour.
