Borghese Gallery/Roma Pass

I want to make reservations for the Borghese but want to use a Roma Pass which I will purchase when I get to Italy in May. How does this work? I am afraid that if I wait to make a reservation...I will be out of luck. Thoughts, please?

It's quite simple. Regardless of how you're going to pay you need a reservation for the Galleria Borghese. If you "pre-purchase" using a credit card, that IS your reserved time, as you've pre-paid for that "slot." Since you will be using the Roma Pass, you only need JUST a reservation. You will need to contact the Galleria Borghese and secure a reservation (or a guaranteed time slot). Once you have a reservation, you can actually use any form of payment, including the Roma Pass, when you arrive 30 minutes in advance to your scheduled time. So for you it's a two-step process. You must get a reservation first... then upon arrival "pay" for entry. You can usually get a reservation 4-6 weeks in advance of your needed date (those times can vary). These two posts may shed more light on the process and getting to the Museum: the Galleria Borghese and Getting to Galleria Borghese via Public Transportation. Good Luck!

As Ron says, you need a reservation only if using the romapass. You must call them to make the reservation. You don't need to have the pass with you when you make the reservation, only when you show up for it. They don't make reservations more than 60 days or so in advance so just call them at the appropriate time and let them know you'll be using the romapass. They'll give you a confirmation number and then you just show up at the gallery at least a half hour early to check in and check your bags. You can find the phone number on the Borghese gallery website. Donna

Depending where you're staying, you can ask your hotel to make the reservations for you. My B & B did it for us and when we got to the Borghese, we just showed them our Roma Pass at the ticket counter. You have to have a specific day and time in mind for your reservation time. The 2 hour time slot was plenty of time to see everything as the Borghese is pretty small but the collection is wonderful.

Upon arriving at our hotel in Rome, I had the front desk make a 5 pm reservation for me at the Borghese for that same day. That time of day was perfect. I virtually had the place to myself. I could get up close to the art without anyone obstructing my view. Unfortunately, I did not have the Roma Pass, so I cannot give you info on that. Have a great trip!

Hi. We are heading to Italy the last week of Sept. I am planning on purchasing Roma Pass for entry into Colosseum and National Museum of Rome. I also want to visit Borghese Gallery on another day. Since I will have used up my first two "free" entries on the pass, but I still want to go to Borghese Gallery, can I just make a reservation telling them I have a Roma pass? And then when I get there (early) I can show them Roma pass and buy discounted tickets for my reservation time? Or should I just pay online and not mess with getting my discount from my Roma pass? I understand how it would work if it's my "free entry" but since it's not one of my first two, I was a little confused how it would work with the discount and reservation needed.
Thank you!

Kim, call them and make your reservation. They will give you a reservation code. Once you arrive, give them your code and Roma Pass and they will charge you the appropriate amount based on the activity on the Roma Pass. Have fun!
