Probably not, depends on what month/season you're going. Rick recommends a minimum of several days in advance for a weekday visit and at least a week ahead for weekends.No need to wait until the last minute, reservations are relatively easy to get online or by phone, see Rick's book Rome for instructions on how to do it, on the 1st page of his chapter Borghese Gallery Tour.

I agree with Kent. Unless you are going in the dead of winter, book them at least a week in advance. We had our hotel do it for us, which couldn't have been easier.
