Borghese Gallery -- My reservation cancelled

Greetings,

My wife and I have been in Italy for 3 weeks, and loving it. But tonight I received a message from the Borghese Gallery stating that our English Guided Tour for next Tuesday, 4-Oct, was cancelled. There was no explanation provided. What gives? Has this happened to anyone before? If yes, what did you do?

Cut your losses , you don't need a tour . Book a regular standard reservation , and watch this video before you go , it's better than any tour you could take . Sorry , I just hit a snag here in Switzerland. Go to YouTube , and find the Simon Schama " Power of Art " episode on Bernini . You may be able to get it on your phone or tablet . It's priceless .

Does that mean the entrance tickets are canceled too? I doubt it.

It happened to me once. My tour was cancelled because they were closed due to a conference held on site.

Interesting. I had a guided tour of the Borghese with Walks of Italy canceled for mid-Oct. The company said Borghese had canceled them. I was able to go in to the Borghese website book almost the same time directly and get the audio guide with it.

I’ll watch to see if this gets canceled!

Quite a few years ago after a long walk, we arrived at the Borghese to a sign saying all afternoon entrance times were cancelled. Come back at 5 pm. I don't remember the exact time, but it was not convenient. However very worthwhile.

Use the audio guide available for self-touring. After two visits without it, the 3rd time we got the audio guide and it really enhanced our experience.
