Borghese Gallery Guided Tour and Roman Pass.

I do not expect Roman Pass will cover the cost of Guided Tour therefore I am wondering how does it work. So I call them and make a reservation and pick up the tickets the day I visit. And then do I pay the extra for the Guided Tour on spot? Thanks.

The tours are only given at certain times so I'm guessing that the timing of your ticket would have to coincide with the timing of one of the tours in English. The website states:

Guided Tour
Guided tour, lasting about one hour and half, are available in Italian and English:
From Tuesday to Saturday
English: 9:10 am - 11:10 am
Italian: 11:10 am - 3:10 pm - 5:10 pm

Sunday and Holidays
English: 9:10 am 11:10 am
Italian: 9:10 am - 11:10 am - 1:10 pm - 3:10 pm - 5:10 pm
On some days there are also English Guided Tour at 1.10 pm

Since you are using the Roma Pass and have to call them for a reservation anyway, ask to be booked for the English tour in one of the available time slots.

I had stashed away some info stating that the museum's docent tours cost 6.50€ per person and must be booked at the same time as tickets - which would make sense - but I don't know how current that price is.

Editing to add: if all the slots for the docent tours are filled, you may also rent an audioguide for 5€ or so. This would be a good substitute.

Have your credit card ready when you call. I don't know if you'll have to pay in advance, but it's good to be prepared.

These free guided tours fill up fast as they are limited to small groups and you only get 2 hours. I paid for a guided trip and the guides were very good about avoiding each other. I tried to book more than a month in advance and even that was not enough time.
