I'm trying to buy tickets for the Borghese Gallery on-line and it is asking for a state and a city, but all the states on the list are Italian ones!!! Any clue what I should do?

I had the same problem yesterday Angela. Finally went back to the home page - in the upper right you can switch from the Italian version which I assume you are using to the English. Once in that version you won't be asked for the Italian state and city. Also, fyi, on one of the screens I could not find a "next" tab. If you encounter that just hit enter on your keyboard.
