Borghese Gallery

We're visiting Rome in late October. We can go to the Borghese Gallery at 5pm but sunset is at 5:08. Will the lack of natural light make a difference to our visit?

I don't think so. I've only been there in the morning, but I don't remember there being a ton of natural light coming in the windows - I'd think it would be bad for the art.

I hope you go! Borghese Gallery is my favorite art museum, and you can really see so many beautiful things by yourself if you linger (because most people will leave way before the two hours are up) or if you go against the grain (e.g., don't follow the group from room to room - go upstairs when everyone else is downstairs or v.v.).

I don't think that the amount of natural light will matter too much, but I've never been after dark.

Regarding light, though, I visited the gallery in '05 and again in '18.
They updated the lighting in the gallery sometime between my two visits.
The new lighting is very harsh on the eyes, and is not guided/directed very well.
Several times, we had to try to shield our eyes from the bright LED lights while looking at the collections.
