Is it better to take a tour of the Borghese Museum and Gardens, or is it just as good to rent the audio tour?
The audio guide is excellent. We went twice without the guide and the third time finally rented the audio and it added a lot to our experience.
The audio guide for Borghese Gallery is excellent, one of the best and an essential element to appreciate the place. I don’t think you need a live guide. I’m not so sure they’re allowed, I did not see any on my visit.
The gardens are, sadly, not much too see. It’s not even close to being a place like Luxembourg Gardens or Retiro Park if that’s your baseline. It’s a bit worn and scrubby, even the Romans are not very happy with the state of the place right now. You can get a taste of it enough getting to the Gallery and while you wait for entry.
