I will be traveling to the Dolomites this September. I am wondering how far in advance should I be booking huts? Can I get away with booking them days in advance while I am in Italy? Or should I book them now? Any advice on booking is greatly appreciated!
I would definitely book them ahead of time as soon as you know your itinerary - as soon as you can. You can also get better prices if you join the Club Alpino Italiano first and then book. Things do start slowing down in September but some of the huts are more popular than others or don't have as many beds and you don't want to be disappointed. Make sure that the ones you are staying in have bedding available...not all of them do.
