I am trying to book flights for 4 of us from Genoa to Catania and Palermo to Rome using the Air One/Alitalia United States website. Prices are outrageous! ($2600) If I inquire through the Italian or British websites, the price drops to $1356. Will I be allowed to book through the other websites? Has anyone tried it? I have already tried the standard websites - Orbitz, Expedia, etc.. and they are no better.
If they ask for your address to back up your credit card payment, you MAY not be allowed to book off those websites....but give it a try, there's nothing to lose. I notice there are other discount airlines that fly Palermo-Rome, including Windjet, Easyjet, and Blu-express. You may want to check them out first. Easyjet has base fares from 9.99 Euro, but watch the luggage restrictions and fees.
Michael ~ yes you can book through other websites as I have done this several times. Have you tried www.sidestep.com or www.skyscanner.net They are pricing engines! Stay away from Expedia.
For low prices you have to use the smaller air line companies in Europe like:ryanair, easyjet etc.
If you use Orbitz or Expedia you get the highest fares.
I use skyscanner.com to look up fares.
