Booking Colosseum Tour

I've been booking entrance tickets online for our trip to Italy around Christmas time. Last time I checked for Colosseum, it looked like December hadn't opened up. Now it looks like some of it has. There are green boxes (I assume tickets are available), red boxes (tickets sold out?), but then during the week we are there, the boxes are all gray. Does that mean it's sold out or not opened up yet for purchase.

If it is sold out, what is best way to proceed? We were planning on purchasing early morning tickets.

I was running into this same issue until I clicked on the underground/arena floor specific ticket & saw tickets are released 30 days in advance. So you can only see available tickets thru Dec 5th. If you look at the normal entry ticket, it shows the full month of December, with bunch of gray, green and red colored dates. Just verify which type of ticket you’re clicking on to get an actual idea of what’s available.

Grey boxes usually mean that tickets are not yet available for those dates,
I'm not sure which of the tours you're looking at? Just the basic entrance ticket w/no guided tour, audio or video tour?

Thanks Amanda! Took your advice and saw the same thing.

I was planning on just getting an entrance ticket, but reading some of the other posts, I going to see if I can get tickets for the underground tour.

I can’t vouch for the underground bc it wasn’t open during my last visit, but the arena floor is an interesting perspective, it’s worth the extra €6.
