Booking Alma Domus in Siena

How do I book the Alma Domus in Siena? RS says they don't speak English, I only speak some bad French. We're on a budget, and this looks like a good fit.

Margaret,
Rick has a form to fax the hotel. You can also use an on line translator to get the basic words to make a reservation. If you call try to get it during the day (Siena time) because the man working the desk speaks English but you can't count on getting him/

Hi Margaret. I recently made a reservation to stay at the Alma Domus. I called them during daytime hours in Italy and spoke with a man named Luigi. His English was perfectly fine. Also be aware that they do not seem to use e-mail at all. To get a written confirmation of my reservation, I had to fax them my information and then, 24 hours later, I received a return fax confirmation. Since you may need to send a fax to get a written confirmation, you might want to just send a fax requesting a reservation in the first place.

We just booked two nights at Alma Domus for the end of June. Our first fax was ignored or lost. Our second one was answered within 36 hours. The second one that we sent, we wrote in Italian (translated it in Babblefish.com) thinking that no one could understand our first fax which was in English. They replied in English. We also faxed at a office store because it was international. They quoted us a price of 65 euros. Have fun!

Thanks for all the help. We tried to fax today and couldn't get thru. We called and were asked to email our reservation. They faxed us back this afternoon with confirmation, they couldn't get thru on our Comcast email?? They said they have this problem on other comcast emails. For the record their email is [email protected]. We got a rate of 95 euros for a quad room. Is the breakfast worth the 5 euros?

I've booked at the Alma Domus a number of times and can echo what's been stated above. Luigi speaks English well and faxes are usually answered within 24 hours. Because I've taken groups, I had to wire a deposit into a bank account ahead of time, but that was easy as well. The nuns don't speak English, but the guys who work the desk do.

I was able to read these entries and found out that I can request a booking in Italian (using www.babblefish.com). I then used the email for the Alma Domus ([email protected]) I had a response in English within 30 minutes (from Maurizio) and booked a triple room with bath for 80 Euro/night in late June. We cannot wait for the mother/sister/daughter trip of a lifetime!

For anyone looking into a stay at the HOTEL ALMA DOMUS in SIENA, my initial and subsequent discussions in September 2012 about booking have been done via email. The email address is info@hotel?almadomus.i?t, attn: Valentina. The manager of the Santuario S. Caterina/Alma Domus is Dr. Louis Locco and their website is www.hotelalmadomus.it To secure your resrvation, the online booking is done in two stages. The first supplies them with the first 8 digits of your Visa or MasterCard. The second provides them with the remaining 8 digits. No charges have been made to my account. Jeff
