Booking a Bed & Breakfast in Rome

I have been searching the endless options of where to stay in Rome for 2 nights and ONE day (3 couples, 3 rooms needed), because our travel date of Sept. 20 is so close, it has been a real challenge to find a "reasonable" hotel in a decent location with good reviews. I did find a Bed & Breakfast in an excellent location called Dominus Rome on Bedandbreakfast.com. Everything LOOKS decent, clean room, private bath, free wi fi, typical Italian breakfast, elevator. Nothing special, but clean and in a good location, BUT NO REVIEWS anywhere and as many small B&B's or Hotels require, we pay cash when we arrive with a reasonable deposit paid upfront through paypal. I have 3 rooms on hold, is it STUPID to book 3 rooms without any reviews? Has anyone ever heard of or stayed at Dominus Rome B&B located 2 blocks north of Piazza Venezia?

We just stayed at a relatively new and great b&b called Armonio All Opera on Via Viminale. We also stayed there two years ago and it is beautiful. It is located across the street from the Roma Opera House. You can find it on venere.com and tripadvisor.com. Also, terminology like reasonable to describe the cost of a place is an unreliable term, which means differnt things to different people. It would be more helpful to indicate your budget limits in dollars/euros.

This reminds me of that old Groucho Marx joke: "I would never join a club that would have me as a member." I'm not sure I would want to stay at a B&B that still had three rooms available two weeks from now in high season. I see from their website that Dominus has five rooms that they rent out. It's really odd that they would still have three free at this late date. The better B&Bs should already be booked up. And I would be REALLY suspicious of a place like that with no reviews! Maybe it's time to consider a hotel since they're more likely to have three rooms free. (Most B&Bs have only a few rooms to rent out, as you've no doubt discovered.) Another option (maybe through vrbo.com) would be to look for a large enough apartment for all of you. I found this one just now that's big enough and available: http://www.vrbo.com/170537 It's in the Celio n'hood, which is pretty cool. You can use Google Maps Streetview to take a look around. Another option would be to look at venere.com. See if this link works: Three rooms starting 9-20 Good luck.
