I errantly booked the wrong day for the Uffitzi gallery via the direct site for the museum.. how liberal are they on changing the date (I emailed them but haven't heard back) or potentially honoring a different time that day? I booked 8:15am of the day I arrive.. but I won't arrive until the early afternoon. If I show up at 4pm and ask them to honor an 8:15 reservation will they? Ideally they reply to my email and just change the date.. curious if anyone else ran into this problem?
I had this same problem. Their website says no refunds even if the wrong day is booked. I emailed them anyway. It took several days to get a return email. I was told to purchase my tickets again for the correct day, then email them back with the confirmation number that I DID NOT want and they would refund it. They said it could take up to 60 days, so it has not happened yet. Overall I decided it was a small price to pay (if they never refund it) to make sure I had the correct day and time.
Thanks for the info; they actually just replied to me today and said the same thing, that if i rebook everything they will reimburse me but only after 60 business days.. which is 3 months yikes! Of the two tickets I booked only the Uffitzi is on the wrong day so I may just bit the bullet and rebook that one museum and lose out on the 17 euros rather than wait 3 months hoping for reimbursement of the full amount.. guess they don't process refunds like we do here in the US!
You will get your money back in 60 days as they stated. They are good about that, but as you noted they move slowly. While it's only less than $20 why would you want to just give away any money when you don't have to. Rebook your reservation to fit your schedule, send them what they want and you'll probably forget about it. One day a couple of months you will open your credit card statement and be surprised with a credit for the refund. Worst case scenario, if you book the second one and they never refund the first booking simply dispute the second charge with your credit card company, using their email as evidence that they owed you the money and did not refund it. Your credit card company will remove it from your account. Compare this to all you're spending on your trip and you'll quickly see that you're wasting energy worrying about such a small amount. Have a great trip to a terrific place.
That was funny and very good advice Jim! You're right, my budget for this tip is upwards of $5,000 and I was letting a $20 mistake upset me lol... I'll go ahead and rebook everything correctly this time and rely on their refund system to work properly. Thanks for the advice and perspective!
