Booked on Trenitalia, no email sent

So I booked our travel on the Trenitalia website. I found it very easy to navigate. At the end, after my credit card had been accepted, I had a receipt to print. It does have my PNR code on it. However, I didn't receive an email confirmation, even though my email was included in the registration. Do I just present the receipt with the PNR code to the conductor? I don't want to get kicked off!

Did you purchase the ticket without being registered? I bought MINI fare tickets a few days ago and could only get it to work when I did NOT use the registration process. I was sent an email that had links to print up the ticket receipt. The email is simply a confirmation of ordering the tickets, while the receipt shows that it is paid. Both have the PNR code printed on them, so I doubt it matters. My question is where it says Mandatory Reservation next to the seat numbers. Does it mean I have to do something else, or is the reservation fee already included in the fare I paid?

No, I was registered throughout the entire process. It brought up a separate window to print my receipt, but never gave me a delivery option. I believe that "Mandatory Reservation" simply means that you had to make a reservation for that train, that you have an assigned seat, and does not need to be validated at the station.

Hi Melanie, I just booked yesterday on the Trenitalia site. You do need the email which will include a pdf download of your purchase- including bar code and scan icon. I did not register. My receipt - from the last page of the on-line process - contained a "retrieval code" that I could use to have another email sent. I'm not sure how this is different since you registered. 1. Check your spam folder to make sure the email is not there. My email came instantly.
2. Since you registered there must be a way to log into your itinerary and request another email. You do need this. The receipt you printed will not be sufficient.

The receipt does include the bar code and scan icon, so I guess I'm all set. It is not in my spam, and when I log onto the site, there is no where that I can request another email.

Melanie if you have the PNR and scan icon, you should be OK. The conductor carries a PDA that does the scanning and confirmation. It's all you need. However, I would be more comfortable with the confirmation email. I purchase tickets this morning and I did receive the confirming email with all of the ticket information.

Melanie, The same thing happened to me was registered, completed the purchase, but no email. I logged back into the site and went into "my travel" and printed out the confirmation, which has a bar code and scan symbol (whatever that's called!) I also just wanted to make sure the tickets showed up, and they did. It has the seat numbers on it, too, so I think I'm set, and it sounds like you are, too.

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I booked two train tickets and also did not receive an email. My problem is that I mistakenly did not write down my PNR code and I am not registered on the site. I clicked the "Print" button up top thinking I could print this info but that link instead brought me to a search page and when I tried to go back to the previous page, the PNR code was gone. My credit card has been charged for the tickets. Is there any way to retrieve my tickets?

Jason, I assume you checked your spam folder? Were you able to print anything? I did not register either. When I got to the last screen telling me that my purchase was complete there was a warning that I had not registered and that I should write down the retrieval code. I printed that screen. Without that you may be sunk, although I guess a phone call wouldn't hurt?
Best of luck and sorry for your trouble.
