Bonassola, Italy

I am working on our itinerary for our next trip to Italy. I saw a brief mention of Bonassola recently but have not come up with much information. Have any of you been there and, if so, how did you like it? It would be a day trip out of Santa Margherita for us. Any advice will be appreciated.

Haven't been there myself, but a good friend just got back from Bonassola. It was recommended to him by a tour guide who said in a few years time it was going to be the "new hotspot". Take that for what it's worth. My friend did say they really, really liked Bonassola and he highly recommended it to us for our trip this fall. He said it was much, much less crowded than Cinque Terra and the beaches were much bigger and better than anything at the CT. He said you won't get the same architechture/geography as the CT, but you will get a place unspoiled by tourist, especially english-speaking tourist. By the way, my friend has traveled quite a bit, so I tend to respect his opinion, even though he does prefer more active travel (hiking, skiing, etc.) than me.

Never been there, but I've looked at a few pictures of Bonassola on Google Earth. Looks like a typically beautiful Ligurian town on a bay. Bob's friend may be right.
