My wife's grandfather was from the little mountain town of Bompietro, Sicily, and she wants to visit there while we are in Italy this fall. Has anyone been there or near there and can offer information about bus travel or other tips for visiting in the remote interior of Sicily? We have toured the major attractions on the island, however, if possible, I'd prefer not to travel via rental car.

Lew, Here is a site I used to plan my trip to Sicily. Lots of good info here. Sorry I don't know about Bompietro, or even where it is located.

siciliaindettaglio.it is a website in English that has info, including a link to bus schedules. Bompietro is about 47km from Enna. The central mountains of Sicily are gorgeous.
