I’ve been thinking about possible day trips from Rome. It appears possible to get the train to Attigliano-Bomarzo, then a cab to Bomarzo. I’m intrigued by the monster garden. Any thoughts? (Guess this is my Halloween post).
I found Bomarzo underwhelming. I think there are plenty of other destinations that would be of more interest.
WEll. Bomarzo is a bit underwhelming and it is a ways to the Monster Park from town, about 2km. The park was cool thought especially for my grandkids.
Mmm... doesn’t sound worth it, at least with public transportation. Thanks, all.
Orvieto is a great day-trip destination (though worth more time than that). Is it already on your itinerary?
I spent a fair bit of time in Orvieto (four nights) on a previous trip, and loved it. I would certainly consider going there again for the day.
If you're looking for an outdoor experience, try Terni with its Cascate delle Marmore (Parco Flyivalr del Nera) or adjacent towns like Nerni, San Gemini and Carsulae with its Etruscan ruins. All are very worthwhile and have good bus transportation between.
Wow, those look wonderful! Thanks, Gerri.
Glad I was able to give an alternative. We loved the hikes, and would have done a few bike rides if we had more time. BTW. It's Parco Fluviale del Nera. Hate typing on my phone!
