Bolzano to Ortisei

We will be arriving in Bolzano next year travelling to Ortisei...did some research
and should take the Bus 350 from the train station in Bolzano to Ortisei...does anyone
know if the bus has a sign header for direction and what is the cost and can we pay the
driver on the bus as we will have a tight connection...thanks for your help.

Although the large lettering on the sign will probably be for the ultimate destination (likely farther up in the mountains than Ortisei (maybe Selva or Santa Cristina?), I believe Ortisei was also on the sign in small letters, at least on the placard placed on the dashboard of the bus. However, there are three languages in use in that area, so you might also see St. Ulrich (German) or Urtijëi (Ladin). Although the bus driver should recognize "Ortisei?" even if you don't pronounce it like a native, it would be perfectly OK to write that name in all capitals and show it to him and/or other passengers to be sure you get on the right bus. I do that when I have to buy tickets at a bus station or train station.

Line 350 buses running in the opposite direction should be signed Brixen (German) and/or Bressanone (Italian).

As for buying tickets, I am not positive, but I think I paid the driver. I bet Rick answers that question in his Italy guidebook. I don't have a copy of that book at the moment. I don't remember an actual bus-station building in Bolzano, but I was there five years ago and could have forgotten.

I have done this several times. I have always walked across the park to the bus station(5 minutes) and bought a ticket. The bus does go right by the train statizone but I don't remember it stopping there going or coming. This is a very easy connection.

We were in Bolzano and Ortisei last Month. Take a right out of the train station and walk a block. The neon green bus station is where you buy a ticket. I think the ticket to Ortisei is €5.50 and bus 350 leaves once an hour. There is no signage on bus showing the stops, nor announcements. So ask the bus driver or follow along on google maps. It’s possible your lodging in Ortisei might give you a mobile card. If so it should cover your trip back to Bolzano.

Bolzano is well worth a night or two on your way to or from Ortisei.
