We are planning a cruise from Venice & want to arrive a few days prior & rent a car to drive to either of the above 2 destinations and would like to know which is a better place to stay for 1 or 2 nights? We would then stay in Venice for 1 or 2 nights (we have been to Venice before but worth staying again).
Which would you recommend driving to & a recommended B&B?

Cortina d'Ampezzo is prettier (much more Alpine) and easier to get to from Venice, a great place to stay for 2 nights (to have time for some excursions in the area). The drive there and back has dramatic scenery; by all means take different roads on each half of the round-trip. I never stayed there however, so can't recommend a B&B.

I thought that might be the better of the two; if we only have time for one night would that be worth it?
