I read in another guidebook today that the Renon cable car was undergoing improvements in 2007 and that it wouldn't be operational through 2008. Does anybody know whether this is true or not?

It was not in operation when I was there in May of this year. I don't know when it is scheduled to reopen.

Thanks, Carole! Did you enjoy Bolzano? How long were you there, and what did you do? I'll be there two nights in early October, and I was hoping to take the cable car, but I guess I'll do something else. :)

Hille, I love Bolzano. I enjoy the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology, home of Otzi the Iceman, the 5300 year old mummy. My favorite thing to do is a day trip to the Alpi di Siusi for hiking with spectacular views of the Dolomites.
I have been there 5 times. This year we stayed 4 nights.
