Bolzano Hotel/B&B Recommendation

Hello fellow travelers -

I'll be staying one night in Bolzano for the Christmas Market. I believe the market is close to the train station so looking for a hotel or B&B recommendation that's close to market and train station. Doing a basic search, doesn't seem to be much and what I've seen is pretty expensive. Thank you!!!

If you don’t mind a 5 - 10 min car ride (few miles from city center I believe) we liked Gasthof Der Eggentaler for one night stay this summer.

(I visited the Xmas market there about 20 years ago. I remember it being wonderful. )

@mggtravel - I will be travelling by train so no car. I'll keep that in mind for future though. Thank you for the reply. Much appreciated

I stayed at Stadt Hotel Citta. It was a lovely hotel with a nice breakfast. I also enjoyed lunch along the piazza, but it was summer. If you have time and can fit it in your schedule, the Otzi museum is well worth it - make a reservation. Good luck finding something reasonably priced!
If you’re taking the train from Innsbruck, you are in for a treat!

No hotel recommendations but second the suggestion for the South Tyrol Archeology Museum with Otzi the Iceman. Wow...what an excellent museum! They have learned so much from this "natural mummy" including his blood type (O+) and what he ate for his last meal. I loved playing with the CT scanner exhibit so you could see the different layers. Fascinating!

I would second the recommendation for the Park Hotel Lauren, which is about a block from the rail station and two or three blocks from Walther Platz, at the center of town. A cheaper option but also excellent is the family-owned Hotel Feichter, on the same street as the Lauren though a block closer to Walther Platz.

We stayed at the Feichter https://www.hotelfeichter.it/en/ this month and found it perhaps our favorite hotel in three weeks of travel in Italy, and had drinks and lunch at the Lauren -- it is a classic posh, old-school European hotel though not at all stuffy. It exuded charm and class and struck us as a great place for a splurge.

We found Bolzano itself an unexpected delight -- like many we were there mainly to enjoy the Dolomites -- easily accessible by bus from Bolzano) but found the German/Italian mix of Bolzano (Bozen?) made hanging out in town great fun.

I stayed at Hotel Figl for Christmas markets, but it has been about 10 years or more. The hotel was written up in an RS guidebook. I chose it for its location - so close to Walther's Square where the main market is. I was on my own. The location was great. I was able to walk to Renon's Cable Car really quickly, to the cathedral, around all the older center streets, the shopping galeries.

As part of an RS tour, I stayed in Parkhotel Laurin which was great in the summer with its swimming pool and AC.

While Laurin is somewhat closer to the train station, I would choose Figl for the markets and the old town atmosphere.

Thank you everyone for your kind and informative replies, I truly do appreciate it. I was aware of the hotels mentioned with the exception of the Feichter. @PatrickC - Just checked the Feichter and that is a very nice hotel and love that the rooms have an outdoor place. This is what I was looking for. Family owned and easier on the pocket book. Hopefully they have a room so waiting to hear back. Thank you, Patrick for the suggestion.

My budget was around $80 but that's obviously out the window as they are north of $140. I wasn't aware of the museum with the ice man and will check it out. Cheers!!
