Greetings. I will staying for 4 days in Bologna and am looking to take a food tour of the city. What are your recommendations? Nothing all day but a half day would be good? Thanks
Hi there! A subject I've been following, here are some threads with different recommendations - https://search.ricksteves.com/?button=&date_range=2y&filter=Travel+Forum&query=Bologna+food+tour&utf8=%E2%9C%93
Bon Appetit!
I am nearby in Vignola but haven 't taken these tours but several of my visiting friends have enjoyed the tour and also the cooking class. https://toursandthecity.com/bologna-tours/
This recommendation is not for the city itself , nor but we were picked up in the heart of Bologna and toured a place where Balsamic vinegar has been made for more than 100 years, a dairy where they make Parmesan cheese and a place where Parma ham is cured. We were driven by a small bus to all these places - had a breakfast at the Balsamic Vinegar location, but the best was last where we’re had a 5 course( at the very least) homemade Italian meal with all the ingredients that you toured plus wine that was so fresh you would die for. The tour guide was phenomenal. Would highly recommend (even though a bit pricey) but a wonderful day. The name is “ Italian Days”. Check it out. Enjoy Bologna as well. Oh by the way if you do decide to book this “Do not have anything to eat before.
I forgot to mention our guides name was Alessandro. And you do get the opportunity to purchase authentic Parmesan cheese at the end of the tour. Wish I had of bought more.
