Bologna to Marinello/modeno/Enola

My daughter and grandson will be in Rome for a week at end of February. Grandson wants to visit Ferrari tour and track. Can anyone please help with travel from Bologna? They will be staying in Bologna a couple of days then back to Rome for trip back to USA I’m March 5. They must be in Maranello at 10am March 3 for tour. Any recommendations will be sincerely appreciated.

I suppose "Enola" is Imola.
Imola is a town east of Bologna, quite far from Modena and Maranello. The "Factory and racetrack tour" done at Maranello Ferrari factory is about the internal racetrack of Ferrari, that is located near the factory.
From Bologna to Modena the train is the better option. From Modena to Maranello the better solution is the Ferrari shuttle: on the museum website (at the previous answer the link) you can find details about timetable and cost.

Check the times available to get there for a 10 am visit. It may be better to rent a car for the day. We rented one from Bologna and went to see Lamborghini (Sant'Agata), Modena and Maranello. Imola and the track there are easy to reach by train from Bologna. Maranello is not on the train line.

I think they have a shuttle bus from the Modena station to the museum in Maranello, but not sure about the times, probably only a few a day. Look it up if you can find info online

You should leave Bologna early and once in Modena take a taxi to Maranello. There is a taxi stand as you exit the station and turn right. The taxi ride is about half hour, so likely at least 40€

I think there are city buses also but they would take longer and your appointment is rather early if you are starting from Bologna. Maybe you can consider it to return to the Modena station if you want to save some money.

I wouldn't rent a car for a day because most rental agencies in Bologna are near the station and they open at 8:00am. Assuming you do the paperwork and are in the car by 8:30am (from the office I remember having to walk a few blocks to a garage) then you have to drive about 1 hour to Maranello. It's kind of cutting it short. You could rent the night before, but then you have to park the car somewhere overnight. I don't think it's worth it, and it's not much cheaper than a train + taxi, for sure the train would be less hassle.
