Updated general question: Bologna Stay Recommendations

Hello RS partners: We (3 adults) will be staying in Bologna for approx. a month. Prob will do an ABNB. Any suggestions on neighborhood and/or specific places to stay. Will be doing day trips to nearby towns.

*Are there any good options for a month long stay to get the best pricing other than ABNBs? And anything less than a month, may have weekly discounts or none at all. TY*

Personally, I love the Santo Stefano area, but have stayed in Saragozza too as well as the Riva di Reno area. The area around the Rivo di Reno is slightly more touristic I think. The restaurants are plentiful but most are just ok.

Saragozza is much more authentic and well located if you stay a bit closer in to Piazza Maggiore. I was really a 15 minute walk into the Piazza, but my immediate location was a bit shy on amenities. Certainly more of a real neighborhood as I rarely saw anyone that seemed any bit the tourist other than myself.

Also stayed across the street from the Basilica Santa Maria dei Servi. Just around the corner is Piazza Aldrovandi with a plethora of restaurants, etc. Lots of great restaurants in that area and it is really close to the Santo Stefano area too.

I might stay away from the university area as it might be noisier, but I can’t say for sure.

Hope you enjoy Bologna.

TY SJS: appreciate the info. I'm somewhat surprised at the pricing for ABNBs in Bologna for this time of year, not basing it on anything specific. And the taxes on top of the rates seems a bit high, like 21%-22%, plus the tourist tax.

That must be AirBnB booking fees, not taxes. The city tourist tax is very low.

I see you are thinking of November.?December, at least in your other thread. Prices may be high due to conventions or trade shows. Or it is possible many of the more reasonably-priced places have been booked already, so there are few left with a whole month open.

Note that while AirBnB has special pricing for stays of 30 days or more, that comes with caveats, at least here in the US. I found that a month-long rental is paid in advance, and non-refundable. Be careful to watch for this.

And consider looking on booking.com. That is where we found our week-long apartments in Bologna.
