Bologna resource

Will be in bologna for 2 nights next June. Will not have a car. Coming from Venice and heading to Orvieto via Rome day trip. Thinking about stopping in Padua in the way from Venice for a few hours. 2 adults. 8 and 12 year old

Since rick doesn’t do bologna any advice as to good resources - books, websites, etc?

Since it’s bologna looking for great family friendly food experiences.

Thanks

Try Lonely Planet or Michelin guides.

Lonely Planet's Discover Italy has no information on Bologna. You might want to try Frommer's Italy and National Geographic Traveler Italy both of which have small sections devoted to Bologna and additional info on the other tasty cities in Emilia Romagna. You might want to download the Triposo App for additional information and links to websites.

The official tourism website of Bologna is actually pretty good. Then there are lots of articles on Chowhound and other travel and food websites. Bologna is great. Enjoy!

Lonely planet has an online guide for Bologna. Google Lonely Planet Bologna and scroll down a few listings.

You will find a lot of good information here on their tourism site.

This is the one I used when I was there for some walks around town and sights. Lonely planet won't list information like this. THis one is in English which you can find in the link above but here is the direct pdf link.

When I went to Bologna I had read a little bit online (various sites), but went immediately into the visitors Information center on the main Piazza and found a "wealth of info" - they had all kinds of maps, brochures and I was able to book a walking tour of Bologna for that afternoon.
Can't say enough about how helpful the folks at the Visitors Info office were.

Bologna is covered in the Emilia Romagna and San Marino chapter from the Lonely Planet Italy guide, and you can purchase an electronic copy of the chapter for $4.95; delivered as a pdf. The next edition of the guide is due out in February 2018, so I would wait to purchase it if you are interested. We used it during our one-day visit to Bologna earlier this year and it was very helpful to have.
