Bologna. Parmigiano Cheese and Balsamic Vinegar Tours

Staying in Bologna for 2 nights. We are looking for a tour of the countryside (Parma/Modena) and trying to find a tour that could take us to cheese-making farms and Vinegar making operations. Any suggestions?

If you are interested in an ebike tour I highly recommend this place. Tours can be in English. Arrangements can be made for transportation from Bologna. Castlevetro is beautiful and you will be in the heart of where balsamico and lambrusco come from as well as visit and taste local cheese. The English portion of the website is still in the process of being completed. https://ebikemodena.com/bike-tours/discover-other-experiences-in-modena-and-bologna/. they are also on instagram and you can email (in English) for more information. I've taken several friends and family members on tours with them.

www.italiandays.it is food & wine tour that will be exactly what you are looking for in Bologna. It is all day and includes tours and tastings of vinegar; parmigiana cheese and prosciutto as well as a meal. I took the tour in 2022 and just loved it so much!

I second the italian days tour. It was the most amazing experience.

I will third the Italian Days tour. They picked us up from our Airbnb apartment in central Bologna in a very nice Mercedes minivan. It was a fabulous day and I learned so much about what goes into producing these products.

I recommend the Balsamic Taste & Tour by Malpighi. I haven't personally taken the tour but I have tasted most of their balsamic vinegars of Modena because my client resells them, and I do the marketing so I received them to taste them. They are delicious, and like nothing I have tasted before.

Malpighi is considered one of the masters of balsamic vinegar in Italy, producing high quality ones since 1850, and they have won many prestigious awards, including the Best Luxury Balsamic Vinegar In The World in 2021.

I also interviewed the president of the company, Massimo Malpighi, for market research purposes, and I can attest the passion and history behind the brand is really admirable.

The estate where they grow the grapes and make the balsamic is in Modena, which is a 25 minute train ride from Bologna plus a 10 minutes taxi or bus.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Alessia! I can't speak for the OP, but the Malpighi tour looks perfect for me.
